With over 15 years in construction and woodworking, Benj brings a wealth experience to the Ironwood team.

Benj's building background started straight out of high school when he interned with a local carpenter. After attending Earlham College in Indiana, Benj returned to work with the same carpenter. He loved the work and was exposed to all aspects of building. Everything was done in-house, so he gained a strong understanding of all that goes into a building: concrete and block work, framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting and trim. They also installed solar and wind systems. Living "off the grid" at the time, he also developed a deeper understanding of the power needs of buildings and the need for building efficiency.

An integral part of the crew and management, Benj has completed new construction, spec housing, additions and renovations, solar installations, custom cabinetry and display fabrication as well as framing and siding projects. He is driven by an interest in providing the community with efficient and sustainable housing options.
