1. FREE CONSULTATION
This initial meeting will take place at your building site or our office. We
will ask for general information about the project and discuss the services
and options we could offer to best fit your needs and budget.
*A picture is worth a thousand words. Have photos, magazine clippings or sketches ready to help communicate your design intentions. Images help to ensure everyone is on the same page and envisioning the same thing.
2. CONCEPT PRESENTATION
If all parties agree to move forward, we will ask for more detailed
project information to clearly define the project goals, priorities
and scope of work.
We will then produce and present to you at least two design concepts and initial estimates based on those designs. Producing these presentation materials and estimates requires a significant amount of time to ensure they are accurate, and because of this we generally require a small fee for this phase. This invests us in your project while allowing us to provide you with the most accurate estimate we can. It also shows us you are committed to seeing the project move forward.
*Anyone can pull a number out of their head on a moment’s notice, but how much confidence can you put in an estimate like that? We have found that "free" estimates end up costing the customer much more in the end due to inaccuracies and cost overruns. Our clients are much happier when they clearly know what to expect from the beginning.
3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Once a concept is chosen by you we enter into a full contract based
on that design and begin to further define the details of your project
such as the materials, fixtures, flooring, trim profiles, etc. If
you are having trouble seeing the space in your head we can make
images for you. Using 3D rendering techniques we can show
you the effects different material combinations have on your rooms,
much easier than coming up with one thousand words.
The design is developed to a level of detail sufficient for obtaining a building permit and for construction purposes. A construction schedule is also laid out.
4. CONSTRUCTION
Once construction drawings are ready we help you obtain the necessary
permits and begin to order the materials necessary to begin. Part
of the construction schedule includes onsite meetings with you,
to ensure the project is progressing in the direction you expect.
5. WALKTHROUGH
This occurs near the completion of construction. We walkthrough
your project together in an effort to ensure that you are fully
satisfied. If
there are items which need to be further addressed they are listed
on what is called a “Punch List”. Once the items
on this list have been completed to your satisfaction, and payment
on the contract has been made in full, the project is considered complete.
